INTOACTION
INSOLE TOOLS FOR ACTIVE LEARNING
AND PREVENTION

BACKGROUND
Key concepts

Foto
FOOT & ANKLE DISORDERS
_______________
Foot orthoses are commonly used as part of the treatment of various foot related pathologies. But the used approach is often insufficiently supported by scientific evidence.
Foto
SCREENING & PREVENTION
_______________

Employees with non-sedentary professions are at higher risk to develop foot and leg related disorders. An early identification of the risks can help to reduce the number of developed disorders.
Foto
EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE
_______________
This projects aims to close the gap between the experience based common practice and evidence based practice by raising the scientific knowledge among practitioners.
Foto
EDUCATION
_______________

Students in orthopedics often lack the experience needed to design and produce patient-specific foot orthoses. An overview of techniques to be used in different cases can accelerate the learning process.

THE INTOACTION PROJECT

A TETRA project financed by Flanders agency for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (VLAIO) and innovative companies

Goals

Foto
CREATE A DATABASE
Create an inventory of the scientific evidence and common practice regarding the subscription and production of foot orthoses.

Foto
DEMO TOOL
Two demo tools (apps) are developed: one for identifying the risk to develop foot and leg related disorders and one for designing patient-specific foot orthoses, based on clinical, scientific evidence.

Foto
IMPLEMENTATION OF SCREENING TOOL
The tool to identify the risk to develop foot and leg related disorders is tested by external prevention service companies in their daily practice.

Foto
IMPLEMENTATION IN ORTHOPAEDIC COMPANIES
The tool for designing a patient specific foot orthosis, based on clinical, scientific evidence is used in orthopaedic companies.

Foto
INTEGRATION OF WEARABLES
Wearables and other measurement equipment are used in the screening  to identify the risk to develop foot and leg related disorders.
